Help us Break the Cycle of Violence

If you would like to make a positive difference to the lives of children, you could support us in funding and establishing a much-needed child-focused counselling service.

Children are often the unseen victims of family and domestic violence. Even when they are not directly harmed, living with violence can have a lasting impact on their emotional wellbeing, development, learning and relationships.

Specialist counselling can help children process trauma, build resilience and begin to heal. However, access to free, specialised support remains limited in Perth’s eastern metropolitan region, leaving many children without the help they need.

To address this gap, Starick is working to establish a dedicated counselling service for children and young people affected by family and domestic violence.

Your donation can help provide life-changing support to a child on their journey to recovery. Together, we can help break the cycle of violence and create safer, brighter futures for children and families.

How Your Donation Helps

Your donation to Starick helps us support women and children impacted by domestic and family violence.

Some of the important services we provide are not supported by government funding and we must raise the funds ourselves in a variety of ways, including:

  • Applying for grants.
  • Using revenue from the Starick Op Shop.
  • Receiving donations of money and goods.
  • Fundraising campaigns and events.
  • Partnering with community organisations.
  • Securing corporate sponsorship.

Financial Donations

Financial donations provide the flexibility to support women, children and young people wherever the need is greatest, helping us build on and enhance our government-funded services

Donate to Help Women and Children Rebuild Their Lives

Financial abuse is a common form of family and domestic violence. It can leave women without access to money, limit their independence, and create financial hardship that continues long after the abusive relationship has ended.

Many women who come to Starick have little or no access to financial resources and rely on our support to meet their immediate needs. Providing essentials such as food, clothing, toiletries and other practical items plays an important role in helping women and children stay safe and begin their recovery.

Starick is a registered charity with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC) (ABN 56 721 993 085). All donations of $2 or more are tax deductible.

You can also choose how your donation is used. Some donors direct their contribution to a specific program, while others choose to support practical needs within our refuges, such as clothing, household items and essential supplies.

Every donation helps us provide safety, support and hope to women, children and young people affected by family and domestic violence.

You can donate securely online using our encrypted payments service (see link below), either on a one-off or regular basis, or send a cheque to us at PO Box 174 Cloverdale WA 6985.

Workplace Giving

Workplace giving is a simple, low‑cost way for employees to support a charity through automatic payroll donations.

Workplace Giving enables employees to make regular donations directly through their payroll. If your employer offers a Workplace Giving program, you can nominate Starick as your chosen charity and have your donation automatically deducted from your salary each pay cycle.

If your workplace does not currently have a Workplace Giving program, consider speaking with your employer about introducing one. Regular contributions, no matter the size, help provide Starick with reliable funding to support women, children and young people affected by family and domestic violence.

For more information about Workplace Giving, visit the Australian Taxation Office.

You, your organisation or community group can help us improve the wellness and quality of life of the women and children in our service.

Donated services include providing a regular gardening service, offering yoga classes, providing us with health club memberships for our clients or teaching our clients a skill to help them become independent, such as cooking classes and self defence.

Donate to our Op Shop

Our Op Shop is run by a dedicated team of volunteers and we are always on the lookout for volunteers and donations of clean, good quality stock.

The op shop is operated and run by hard-working, dedicated volunteers, and proceeds from sales of discounted clothing, toys, bedding, household goods and more support Starick’s services.

Every dollar of profit from the op shop is used to fund health & wellbeing programs which address some of the impacts of domestic and family violence on women’s and children’s lives – such as art therapy, self-defense training, and yoga for trauma.

Containers For Change Logo

Donate your 'Containers for Change' refunds to Starick

WA’s new container deposit scheme aims to reduce litter and increase recycling of beverage containers by offering 10c refunds on every eligible contained returned (including cans, plastic and glass bottles, but not wine bottles).

You can also donate your refund to Starick using the Starick SCHEME ID: C10289306
to support Starick and recycle at the same time:

  1. Find your closest refund point at the Containers for Change website.
  2. Collect eligible drink containers (check the label to see if it carries to 10c return information).
  3. Take your containers to the refund point.
  4. Use the Starick Scheme ID C10289306.
  5. The donation is the sent directly to Starick from the refund point.

Every little bit counts, and even returning just 10 containers per week for a year enables us to provide emergency food items for a woman and her children who arrive at one of our refuges with nothing.

Fund a School Holiday Program for Children in our Refuges

Like annual donors Mineral Resources, you could fund a school holiday camp or holiday program.

Every year Mineral Resources generously donates $10,000 to Starick to be used over the Christmas period.

For children living in Starick’s refuges, having a normal Christmas with gifts and holiday activities is especially important. Many have fled violence and uncertainty, and celebrating Christmas helps restore a sense of safety, joy, and childhood.

These simple moments: receiving a present, decorating, joining in festive activities, remind them that they are valued and cared for. Creating positive memories not only strengthens their wellbeing in the present but also helps rebuild hope and stability for the future.
